In October we celebrate Columbus Day on the second Monday of the month - a national holiday that celebrates the anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the Americas. Columbus landed at Guanahaní, an island in the Bahamas, on Oct. 12, 1492. Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebrates and honors indigenous American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures. To end the month, we have fun dressing up Oct. 31 for Halloween.

The October full moon is known as the Hunter’s Moon and will be visible Saturday, Oct. 28.
