Sidney Memorial Library, 8 River Street - hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. The library will close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and closed Thursday, Nov. 23 for Thanksgiving.

Catholic Charities Emergency Food Pantry is open by appointment Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Thursdays 8:30 to 6:30, 21 Liberty Street. Catholic Charities hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30; 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Birthright of Sidney NY serving Chenango, Delaware and Otsego Counties, 21 Liberty Street, Suite 10 is open Monday 1 to 4 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services are free, volunteers are trained, information is confidential; 607-563-4321. Offering counseling, pregnancy tests, agency referrals, baby food and diapers. 

Sidney American Legion Auxiliary will have a pie sale Tuesday, Nov. 21 and a holiday craft fair Dec. 1. More details to follow. The Legion will also host a community Thanksgiving dinner.

The Tri-County Seniors holiday dinner dance will be held Friday, Dec. 8. Reservations required by Nov. 17. Call Carol at 607-563-8065 for more information and cost. Buffet dinner at 5 p.m. followed with music by Dirt Road Express Band from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Sidney American Legion Hall. All area seniors are welcome.

Small Business Saturday and the 4th annual holiday bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Community Cultural Center, 1 Bridge Street. Vendor sales will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sidney Holly Jolly Parade Friday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. Parade lineup begins at 5 p.m. in Sidney Plaza Parking Lot. Activities on Main Street. Tree Lighting will immediately follow the parade.

Organizers of the Southern Tier Music Fest have announced the 2nd annual event is scheduled for July 6 at the Sidney Municipal Airport.

Unadilla 

Unadilla’s Santa Saturday and Holiday Magic Parade Saturday, Dec. 2 organized by the Unadilla Historical Association, The Village of Unadilla, Unadilla Chamber of Commerce and the Unadilla Fire Department. Holiday vendors from 9 to 2 p.m. and breakfast in the basement from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Unadilla Methodist Church, Main Street. Plan to participate in the Sweater Swap from 9 to 1 at the Unatego Elementary School sponsored by the Elementary PTO.

Toys for Tots are being collected at the Unadilla Dinner/Donut Hut know through Dec. 2. Stuff the Bus will also take place with a food drive during the holiday magic parade to benefit the Unadilla and Otego Food Pantries. Many other activities will take place throughout the day ending with a visit with Santa after the parade at the Wm. Bauer Community Center with gift bags for the children.

The Green Giraffe is working with the Unadilla Food Pantry to collect personal items such as shampoo, body wash, toothbrush/toothpaste, deodorants, hand soap feminine care products, baby supplies and more. Household items include dish soap, tissues, toilet paper, Clorox wipes and more. Items may be dropped of at Green Giraffe, 179 Main Street, by Dec. 8.

The Unatego Elementary Music Program is looking for flutes, clarinets, alto saxophones, trumpets, and trombones. Donate gently used band instruments to the Unatego Elementary Band program. Contact Maureen Hoehnel at nhoehnel@unatego.stier.org for details.

The Unadilla Food Pantry, 172 Main Street, is open Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more info call 607-563-7713.

Unadilla Chamber of Commerce is promoting Small Business Saturday November 25. There will be many business specials (watch Facebook) and 4 Towns Forward fliers. A soup and sandwich luncheon will be offered at the Unadilla Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Craft vendors for holiday shopping from 5 to 6 p.m.

The Otego-Unadilla Central School District Board of Education will have a special district meeting of qualified voters at the middle/senior high school, on Dec. 4 at noon. The purpose of voting by paper ballot will be on two propositions.

Proposition 1 - voting on three large school buses and one school bus with a wheelchair lift. Proposition 2 will be to purchase approximately 3.9 acres of vacant land on state Highway 7. Voting will take place from noon to 8 p.m.
