Ellie Truman is spearheading a group to bring back an in-person community Thanksgiving dinner in Walton this year. Deb Myer just completed a Pampered Chef fundraising campaign where she donated a percentage of her proceeds to help fund it. If you missed it, or are like me and don’t cook, you can still donate by sending a check to Wayne Bank in care of Tim Gutliph and specify Community Thanksgiving in the memo line. This is an ongoing project, so give when and if you can. Thanks.

Walton’s Walk for Hunger is scheduled for Sunday, Sept 24. Registration begins at 2 p.m. and the walk begins at 3 p.m. Choose a one or two mile course, beginning at Walton Veterans’ Plaza, Delaware Street, Walton. UHS Delaware Valley Hospital is a proud to serve as a primary sponsor of this Walton Ministerial event each year. We know people have busy schedules and cannot always make it to some events they would like to attend. This year the committee has set up a Go Fund Me page, as a convenient way for everyone to support this great cause. Proceeds go to the Walton Food Bank, the Walton churches that hold community suppers, and the school backpack program, which provides weekend food to children in need. S & S Foodtruck will be there and donate 25% of their proceeds to the event. Don Foster’s BG Tunes will be there with his children’s games that day. Lactalis will have information and flyers about it at the Dairy Barn this week at the Delaware Co. Fair. It’s a great community event that you can be involved in with at whatever level you want. You can walk, you can sponsor, you can come eat, and play games. You can stop down to the plaza with your donation if no one asks you to sponsor them. The proceeds will be distributed as 30% to the Food Bank, 30% to the Weekend Backpack Program (WEB), 30% to churches free community meals and 10% to Clear Path for Veterans in Vestal. Every year 90% of the money raised stays in Walton, and the final 10% goes to a different charity each year voted on by the committee.

Dr. Mike Freeman’s new event the Molto Delco Bike Ride, had a good turnout of 14 riders, and they were led out of the village by Bob and Maxine Locherer in their 1930s Model A Ford. They went down East River Road to Delhi, Hamden up Route 28 to Andes, around the reservoir, and to Route 30 to Downsville, Corbett, Shinhopple, Fishs Eddy and Cadosia. Four riders did the 100 miles and a great time was had by all. It was perfect weather and they are excited to do it again next year.

Not a lot of news this week because everything is revolving around the fair. Hopefully lots of news next week. Hope everyone has a fun and safe fair. We’re looking forward to having our whole family together. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to Woody and I. We appreciate your friendship and prayers.
