The Catskill Choral Society will hold auditions for new members Thursday, Jan. 19, beginning at 5 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Society Chapel, 12 Ford Ave., Oneonta. Auditions are by appointment and may be made by emailing ccs@catskillchoralsociety.com.

The society will be preparing for its spring concert to be held April 21 and 22, where we will perform a concert of Brahms choral works, including the famous Liebeslieder Waltzes.  The group will also prepare a concert in collaboration with the Catskill Symphony Orchestra to be presented May 13, featuring music from famous Hollywood movie scores.

Chris Shields, president of the choral society, said the May 13 concert will be the first collaborative project with the Catskill Symphony in many years and they look forward to working with Maestro Zoltowski and the CSO, adding the Brahms concert was partially prepared for performance in May of 2020 but was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Singers with some prior choral singing experience, talented high school and college age singers who are able to commit to a weekly rehearsal schedule, are sought. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7 until 9 p.m., and will begin Jan. 26.
