Charles J. Gombosi Jr., 82, of Walton, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, May 1, 2023 at home.
Charles was born on Feb. 27, 1941 in Patterson, N.J., the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Wright) Gombosi Sr. He was married to the love of his life, MaryAnn (Kaplar) Gombosi, for 58 years. She predeceased him in 2021.
Charles was employed by Bristol Meyer Squibb in Lawrence, N.J., retiring following a 49-year career where he was the union president and representative. Charles was also a former councilman and mayor of Englishtown, N.J., holding this elected position for 10 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, the great outdoors, caring for his animals and was very meticulous in taking care of his home.
Charles is survived by his loving family, his children Jeff (Simonne Pojawa) Gombosi, Gregory Gombosi, Matthew (Lina) Gombosi and Melissa Paul (Dave); grandchildren Hunter Paul and Nicholas Gombosi, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private graveside service will be held at the Walton Cemetery where the remains of Charles and MaryAnn will be laid to rest at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
