David R. Edwards, 59, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at his home with his loving family by his side, following a long battle with cancer.

Born on Dec. 9, 1961 in Walton, he was a son to the late Raymond and Helen Birdsall Edwards.

Dave was a graduate of Walton Central School, an Orange Crush football player and supporter for many years. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps. Dave was a Walton Central School District bus driver for 12 years, and also a recess monitor at Townsend School for many years. He always supported many kids’ sporting events, from pee wee to high school. Dave participated for many years in the Delaware County Fair Demolition Derby and was a past leader with the Walton 4-H Club. In his spare time, Dave loved to camp, hunt, fish, was a NASCAR enthusiast. He loved to watch demolition derbies, horse shows, and enjoyed drinking beer with his friends on the weekend. One of his favorite vacations from his younger years and on was to Lancaster, Penn., with his family. Most of all Dave loved being around people, especially his family and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.

Survivors include his former spouse Angie Edwards; children Camie Edwards (Tyler Thayer), Shawni Williams (Austin), Justin McAdams (Patsy Hammond) and Morgan McAdams-Wood (Hunter); grandchildren Maverick Williams, Hudson Williams, Averie Williams, and Levi Alice Wood; father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Marion Neale, and his beloved furry friends Icky, Splotch and Stanley. Dave is also survived by aunts, an uncle, and several cousins.

A graveside service to celebrate Dave’s life will be held at Walton Cemetery in the spring at a day and time to be announced.

Memorial donations in Dave’s memory may be made to Helios Care, 297 River Street Service Road, Suite #1, Oneonta, NY 13820 or the Walton FFA Chapter, 47-49 Stockton Avenue, Walton, NY 13856.
