Happy anniversary to Bob and Lisa Moody.

Betty and Harry Bell have recently been traveling. They flew to London, England, and with a few friends, boarded a motor coach and traveled to Scotland, Wales, Ireland and back to England. The next trip was to the Netherlands with Betty’s daughter Jeana Roberts and a few friends. They boarded a riverboat and sailed on the Rhine visiting Germany, France and Switzerland. Visiting Switzerland was a bit disappointing, they said. They exited the river and the riverboat, boarded a motor coach and were taken to the Basel airport (EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg) to head home. The last trip was to Steamboat Springs, Colo., with Betty’s daughters Barb Mackey and Jeana Roberts along with Betty’s grandson Nate Mackey and Michael Roberts to a skiing vacation - the younger folks skied and Betty and Harry hung out in an airbnb. Betty said it was great to be able to travel but good to be back home where they plan to stay until the next trip.

My thoughts of the week: It’s that time of year to help the Girl Scouts - buy Girl Scout Cookies, now on sale. All the usual cookies and a new one this year: Raspberry Rally. This cookie is a thin crispy cookie filled with raspberry flavor filling and dipped in a chocolate coating. Sounds like a good one to try.

Lynn Kinch’s joke of the week: One of those passengers on an elevator quipped to the operator, “I guess your job has its ups and downs, huh?” “I don’t mind those,: the operator replied. “It’s the sudden jerks I can’t stand.”

Senior Moments: Did you hear about the retiree who placed first in the marathon? He won by a hairpiece.

A cute saying: The truly rich are those who enjoy what they have.

Helpful Hints: Keep your home rodent free - eliminate points of entry. Mice can pass through openings as small as a dime, so close off every small hole you can find. Seal cracks in your foundation, place weatherstripping under your doors and install backdraft dampers in your ducts. You should also screen off dryer outlets, fans, air intake vents and roof vents. Finally, add caulking around windows and pipes as needed.

Worship services for the DeLancey, Hamden and West Delhi churches during February will be held in Hamden at 11 a.m. with Rev. Connie Stone.
