Edna Pomeroy

Edna Pomeroy, 81, of Sidney Center, left this Earth in the arms of her husband and went to be with her Lord and Savior.

She was born March 21, 1943, daughter of the late Fenton O. and C. Gladys (Eggleston) Earl in Bainbridge.

Edna graduated from Deposit Central school. She married Robert Pomeroy November 6, 1965.

At an early age, Edna worked at Keith Clark and for several years at the Sidney Center Store. She also worked as the Sidney Center Food Bank Coordinator.

Edna also ran her own business with her family - a vegetable stand and greenhouse and sold wreaths. One of her fortes was canning and preserving food, a skill she passed on to her daughters.

She was a member of the Sidney Center Rod and Gun Club and served as a past secretary and was a life member of the Maywood Historical Group. Edna was a past member of the Sidney Center Methodist Church serving the Vacation Bible School, We Care suppers, breakfasts and the prayer chain. Edna was a devoted member of the Sidney Center Family and Friends Church.

She also participated in the tug-o-war at the Delaware County Fair.

She enjoyed watching all kinds of birds, especially hummingbirds, as well as playing cards and games.

She also enjoyed her beloved border collies, Lady and Rascal.

Edna gave of herself to anyone in need and was a friend to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert; daughters Penny McKnight and Peggy (Brian) Gregory; grandchildren Aden and Kylie; sisters-in-law Janet (David) Darling, Kim Pomeroy, Dory (Steve) Ladd and Tina (Peter) Blackwood; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Edna was also predeceased by her sister Sandra, brothers Fenton, Richard and Doug and son-in-law, Kelvin McKnight.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Freeman, the medical staff and all the friends and family who have helped over the years during her long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Friends may call Thursday, June 20, from 5-7 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 21, at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial in Walton Cemetery will follow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to the Sidney Center Family and Friends Church, the Maywood Historical Group, Helios Care, or Catholic Charities’ Sidney Office.
