Elinor Hebbard Terry

Elinor Hebbard Terry, of Zephyrhills, Florida, and formerly of Delhi passed away on July 19, 2024 at Zephyrhills, Florida. Elinor was born March 22, 1928 in Davenport, the daughter of Harry T. Hebbard and Lucy Davis Hebbard. In 1939 the family moved to Delhi when her father was elected as Commissioner of Public Welfare. In 1947 she graduated from Delaware Academy and Central School; attended Mildred Elly Secretarial College in Albany and graduated from SUNY Delhi. She married Donald W. Terry of Hamden in 1949 and they had three sons.

Elinor (Pinky) was employed for 40 years at the Delaware County Department of Social Services retiring as Director of Fiscal Management and Deputy Commissioner in 1994. She was then employed during the summer months as a financial advisor for NYS Public Welfare Association. In 1999 she and Don moved to Tropical Acre Estates in Zephyrhills, Florida where she worked in the sales office part time. She was elected to the board of trustees there for a term of three years. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Delhi.

She and Don so enjoyed returning to Delhi each summer and to spend time with their family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband and son Donald W. and Donald H. Terry. 

She is survived by her sons Philip of Delhi and Douglas of Zephyrhills; daughter-in-law Terri B. Terry; her grandson Chadwick (Roxanne) and her 

great-grandchildren Chasen, Bryce, Gabriel and Gwendolyn of Hamburg. Also surviving are her sister Jane (Donald) Hymers, her sister-in-law Loretta Hebbard and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her siblings Etta Frampton, Herbert Hebbard, Harry T. Hebbard, Janette Gilbert, Philip Hebbard, Flora Nicholson, Mary Monroe and Earl Hebbard.

Burial services at Woodland Cemetery in Delhi will be held later for family and friends.
