Jeanne Tweedie Scott of Chesapeake, Va., passed away May 18, 2022. She was 96.

The daughter of the late Archibald A. and Eva (Pomeroy) Tweedie, she was born March 6, 1926.

Jeanne married David B. Scott June 21, 1945. After David finished his mechanical engineering degree at RPI, they moved to Plainfield, N.J. where he worked for Singer. They later moved back to Walton to begin the business Scott Machine Shop located on Liberty Street. Jeanne went back to school and took secretarial and bookkeeping courses so she could assist with the business. They then started a new business, Scott Machine Development Corporation on Prospect Avenue. They worked together to achieve a successful businesses. David passed away in 1969 following a tragic car accident.

Jeanne later relocated to Vienna, Va., and then again to Chesapeake, Va. She was an avid gardener. She joined the Chesapeake Senior Club and held many years of service as secretary, vice president, and president. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and many of the United States. She organized many trips for club members. She enjoyed line dancing and participated in many years of Senior Olympic games.

Jeanne was predeceased by her parents (Archibald and Eva Tweedie), husband David, son Roger, siblings Agnes Phoenix, Eva Smith, Archie and Douglas Tweedie.

Survivors include son Gerald of Amherst, Va., daughter Nancy and son-in-law Randy Scherer of Chesapeake, Va., grandson Christopher and daughter-in-law Casey Scherer, granddaughter Megan and son-in-law Jonathan Dail of Kitty Hawk, N.C., and four great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Cara, Jansen, and Corryn, neices and nephews.

A graveside burial will take place at Walton Cemetery at a later date.
