Area film lovers will join over 100,000 film enthusiasts around the world Sept. 22 - Oct. 2 when the 25th annual Manhattan Short film festival occurs. The festival screens locally at the Walton Theatre Thursday, Sept 22 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and again Saturday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m.

The final ten that will be viewed have been determined by judges to be the best short films selected from 870 submissions from 70 countries. The ten finalists come from eight countries with films from Scotland, Czech and Slovakia, Spain, Australia, Finland, and Lebanon along with two films from France and two from the United States. By virtue of being selected by Manhattan Short, each film is Oscar qualified.

The Best Film and Best Actor awards for these ten films are determined by ballots cast by audiences in each participating venue. All the votes are sent to Manhattan short where they are added together and winners are determined.
