Marshall MacNaught

Marshall D. “Butch” MacNaught, 79, formerly of Delaware County, passed away June 1, 2023 in Homosassa, Fla. 

He was born Oct. 10, 1943, the son of the late Marshall and Louise (Mealus) MacNaught.  

Marshall was known to family and friends as “Butch” or “Mac.” He grew up in Hamden and was a 1961 graduate of Delaware Academy. Butch then attended Cornell University and graduated from SUNY Oneonta. 

Mr. MacNaught taught history and social studies for several years at Downsville Central School. Following teaching, he started a career with Amtrak, combining his love of travel with trains, finally retiring to Florida.  

He was an accomplished organist and enjoyed attending area organ recitals, however Butch’s greatest passion was his family which he loved spending time with. 

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother James MacNaught, and niece Robin Marie (Lattimore) Blair.

Butch is survived by his sister Judith (Joe) Lattimore of Auburn, brothers Thomas (Jamie) MacNaught and Michael (Judy) MacNaught both of Delhi, and his close friend Russell “Skip” Taylor of Florida, and several nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 9, at the Hamden Cemetery, Hamden.
