Henry W. Longfellow: “Most people would succeed in small things if they were not troubled with great ambition.”

National FFA Week is Sunday, Feb. 19 through Sunday, Feb. 26. The FFA is a great organization and many members of our family have learned much from it and the next generation is now joining.

Tuesday, Feb. 14 is Valentine’s Day, a reminder to thank the valentines in your lives for all they do for you and mean to you, not only with gifts but by being kind to each and everyone.

The Sidney Central School Board of Education will meet Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library. The Sidney Jazz Ensemble will travel to Fonda-Fultonville Feb. 16 where they hope to bring back honors after they perform before a panel of distinguished judges.

A winter recess is scheduled for the week of President’s Day - Monday, Feb. 20 through Friday, Feb. 24 - enjoy everyone.

Here on the Farm the fellas are still dealing with the colder temperatures from last week. They sure were glad to see the temperatures changing for the better this week. The vet came for a check on the cows’ health. They seem to have done okay during the cold spell. It seems that everyone wants to do a survey now that the year has changed to see how the farms are doing. I just finished the U.S. Department of Agriculture survey which was a long form to complete and with some help from everyone it got done on time to send out. The tax forms that are needed to complete the taxes will be delayed and will be mailed to us. Farm taxes are supposed to be done and mailed by March 1 unless they change things. Milk prices are to remain good in the first half of this year. We hope the prices keep up throughout 2023. Keep purchasing dairy products. Have a great and healthy week everyone.

Birthday greetings this week to Sharon Sherman Feb. 12, Jonathon Carvin and Julia Freeman Feb. 13, Austin Michael Dean Feb. 15, Pecabo Lynn Scott and Brenda Manley Waite Feb. 16, Susan Scofield and Judy Jackson Feb. 18, and Kevin Scofield, Debbie Scott Reilly and Pastor Tom Vance Feb. 20. Have a great day, everyone.

Masonville Federated Church Sunday services with Interim Pastor Rev. Dr. John Helgeson, are at 11 a.m. Bible study Tuesdays from 12:15 to 1:15 and 3:15 to 4:15.

Thank you to all who braved the very cold temperatures to come to the pancake breakfast at the Masonville Federated Church Saturday. Although the attendance was low the workers decided to try another one Saturday, March 4. The times and menu will remain the same although the price may have to be adjusted since the prices of everything are getting higher. I will post more details as I get them - hope the weather is much better that day.

The Masonville Food Bank at the church each third Wednesday of the month - for February it will be Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and will include a light lunch. If you have questions contact Barb Huntington at 607-865-4148.
