Old Franklin Day, Franklin’s traditional summer festival, will be back Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Institute Street off Main Street / state Highway 357. Old Franklin Day will showcase Franklin’s history and traditions with its welcoming community, old-fashioned hospitality, unique businesses, talented musicians, artists and crafters, delicious handmade and “farm to table” food, and activities for kids of all ages.

Shop Local To date, 35 local artists, crafters and vendors have signed up along with community organizations. Offerings include antiques, artwork, artisanal glass, pottery, ceramics, woodcraft, home décor, vintage and contemporary clothing, jewelry, accessories, a children’s book and local maple syrup products, handmade chocolate, baked goods and more.

Boogie Live Off the Record Band will perform rock, country and jazz classics from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Charlie and the Roomers will play blues, funk, soul, rock, country and New Orleans music from 2 to 4 p.m.

Yum Eats Get the energy to dance from burgers, fries, hot dogs, chicken and gyros cooked on site, along with baked goods, gelato, Italian ices and chocolate. At St. Paul’s annual pie sale that begins at 9 and ends when pies are sold out, have a slice with coffee and pick up whole pies for family and friends. Take In a Fashion Show Old Franklin Days fashion show “100 Years of Fashion” will take place at Franklin Central School at 1 p.m. hosted by the Vintage Closet and Threads Past and Present in honor of Lois Stalter.

Celebrate 75 Years with Franklin Rotary Club To commemorate its 75 years of service, the Franklin Rotary Club will have a tent on the Franklin Central School lawn with exhibits showing its accomplishments and program information, a celebratory cake and much more, with seating available inside the tent.

Kids’ Play In addition a bounce house, glitter tattoos, balloon art, Zenga and make your own sand art activities at Old Franklin Day, Rotarians will have yard games, a balloon toss, ring toss and more with small prizes. There will also be a kickball game for children and adults on the Franklin Central School athletic field, and a tractor pull ride.

Get Deals Franklin Free Library will host a book sale. Grab a bagful of books at a bargain and help fund the library’s educational programs. And don’t miss the traditional Old Franklin Day town-wide lawn sales.

Tour the Village Take a walk around the historic village. Shops and restaurants will be open. See landmark homes on Main, Center, Maple and Water streets, and the Franklin Stage Company building on Institute Street. Visit the Franklin Railroad and Community Museum, 572 Main Street, and the bucolic Ouleout
