Purple beats blue: Franklin girls basketball tops Margaretville 48-41

MARGARETVILLE - Franklin girls’ varsity basketball outscored the Margaretville girls’ varsity team with a score of 48-41 Monday, Dec. 16, at Margaretville Central School. While the game started slow, with a score of 17-15 at the end of the second quarter, Franklin’s Purple Devils upped their game to sink 14 shots in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth quarter to secure their win. 

Franklin’s Shannon Kingsbury led her team with a total of 22 points, including a three-pointer to help the Purple Devils keep their lead. Teammates Katie Sanford and Riley McNamara, netting five and 13 points overall respectively, each sunk a three-pointer. 

Purple Devils Zaeda Beadle and Daniella DeSilva added another four points each to the team’s winning score. 

For the Margaretville Blue Devils, Marie Colberg tallied a total of 18 points to lead her team in scoring, followed by Mackenize Hubbell with seven points, Naomi Delpratt with five, Livy Fronckawiak with three points, and Victoria Fairbairn, Miley Balcom, and Vivica Brewer with two points each. 

While Franklin ultimately took home the win, Margaretville led in three-point shots. Colberg sunk two three-pointers, and Fronckawiak, Delpratt, and Hubbell claimed the remaining three.
