Richard H. Loucks Sr., 83, of Bloomville, passed away Tuesday Dec. 27, 2022.

Born April 13, 1939 in Gilboa, Richard (Dick) was the son of the late Earl and Mildred (Cottone) Loucks. 

Mr. Loucks served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 11, 1956 to Aug. 28, 1959 and was stationed overseas in Germany and France.

Richard was a dairy farmer for many years before being employed by the town of Kortright Highway Department for over 30 years before retiring.

He enjoyed going to yard sales, refinishing furniture, reading Western novels, local history, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting.

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his wife Shirley (Mattice) Loucks and his sons Chief Richard H. Loucks Jr., U.S. Navy, and Russell A. Loucks. 

He was predeceased by his sister Shirley (Loucks) Tompkins, his brother Earl Loucks Jr. and his sister Barbara (Loucks) Mattice.

He is survived by his daughters Debbie (Loucks) Martin and Karen (Loucks) Hall-Green. He is survived by the following grandchildren: Chief Mathew R. Speece, U.S. Navy, Chad Loucks, Travis Loucks, Ryan Loucks, Brielle (Loucks) Dougherty, Chelsea (Martin) Campbell, Schuyler Speece, Taylor Loucks, Morgan Loucks, and Brandon Hall as well as several great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Family and friends are invited to call on the family from noon – 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Buntline Drive, Stamford. Join the family at the Hobart Fire Department afterwards to share some of your favorite memories. A light lunch and refreshments will be served from 2 - 4 p.m.

A private graveside service for Richard and Shirley will be held in the spring at the Stamford Cemetery, Stamford.
