William Erpherd King, 53, of DeLancey, passed away in his sleep Dec. 10, 2023.
He was born on April 11, 1970 in Walton, to William and Virginia (McKee) King.
Bill started school at Andes Central, but after his freshman year he attended Delaware Academy where he graduated in 1988. While there he was active in baseball, basketball, and was one of the first members of their fledging soccer team. Upon graduation, he attended Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, where he graduated with an associates degree in criminal justice. It was in Troy where he would meet Michelle Meyer who he married in August 1995.
During his teenage years he was very active as an acolyte at St. James Episcopal Church at Lake Delaware where he assisted Rector Father Paul Sanford at the 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. services on a weekly basis. After college he provided security at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals in Hobart for many years.
Bill was passionate about Manchester United soccer, Star Wars, and good food. He enjoyed sitting on the deck of his house listening to the birds that stopped by the bird feeders he manned on a daily basis.
He was predeceased by his wife Michelle in 2012, his son Kyle in 2022, and his mother Virginia in 2023.
He is survived by his father, William L. King of Ocala, Florida, his son Carson J. King of DeLancey, his granddaughter Maelyn, his brother Paul (Cynthia) King of Saranac Lake; many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
