The Delaware County Fair will once again honor the men and women who serve their communities during the annual Heroes Parade on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

The parade, which begins at 7 p.m., recognizes active and retired military members, law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency service providers who dedicate their time to protecting and helping others.

Participants will travel along the fairgrounds track, creating an opportunity for visitors to gather, show their appreciation and celebrate the individuals who answer the call to serve.

Before the parade, a memorial service will be held at 6:45 p.m. on the Main Stage to remember firefighters who have passed away during the previous year.

The Delaware County Firefighters Association organizes the parade each year, coordinating everything from the lineup and announcers to judges, trophies, plaques and prizes.

With free grandstand admission, the Heroes Parade offers fairgoers an opportunity to pause from the excitement of the fair and recognize the courage, dedication and service of those who help keep Delaware County safe.
