Adirondack Mountain Club May Hikes

Posted

With spring settling across the Susquehanna Valley, the Adirondack Mountain Club Susquehanna Chapter invites residents to step outdoors, offering a May calendar that blends guided hikes with community gatherings.

The schedule opens May 2 with a longer Saturday outing linking Pine Lake, Mud Lake and Riddell State Park, a route that requires advance registration. Shorter weekday hikes follow, including a May 5 walk along the Susquehanna Greenway in Oneonta and a May 12 outing through Homer Folks Forest.

Midmonth, the group heads farther afield. A May 16 hike in Pharsalia Woods State Forest — also requiring preregistration — offers a more remote terrain, followed by a May 19 loop hike at Bulldog Run Loop.

The chapter’s monthly potluck and program, set for May 20, will begin with a 6 p.m. dinner and continue with a 7 p.m. presentation titled “A Treasure in Our Valley,” reflecting the group’s emphasis on both recreation and local awareness.

The month concludes May 26 with a return to Pine Lake in Davenport.

Organizers say the outings are open to new and experienced hikers alike, with details and registration information available at susqadk.org
