Zachary J. Hoffman Kowatch, 22, Arkville, was arrested by Margaretville State Police May 10 and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment as a hate crime, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of motor vehicle.

Troopers say Hoffman Kowatch was in a vehicle on Main Street, Fleischmanns on May 9, when he began yelling anti-semitic remarks at a teenager who was riding a bicycle.

Hoffman Kowatch then attempted to intentionally strike the teenager and an adult with his vehicle while yelling obscenities and making anti-semitic remarks before fleeing the scene.

Hoffman Kowatch was arraigned at centralized arraignment and held at the Delaware County Jail without bail.
