The Jericho Arts Council Gallery Committee hopes to see you enjoying the last few days of Regatta Row while roaming North and West Main streets in downtown Bainbridge. This is the 10th year of the Art Trail Exhibit which consists of eight classic canoe paddle Adirondack-style chairs and, new this year, 12 rocking chair versions built by local woodworker Dan Stolzfus
The theme this year is “Celebrating the Regatta since 1962”, and there are diverse impressions of the past 62 years of the General Clinton Canoe Regatta expressed by artists. Golden Artist Colors of New Berlin and Norwich donated a selected assortment of acrylics to each artist based on their design plan.
The chairs can be viewed on the streets until Friday, May 24. They will then be taken to General Clinton Park to be viewed during the Regatta festivities till they are auctioned by Chris Brown Auction Service in the big red and white striped Chamber of Commerce tent, at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 25.
Also on display in the storefronts of businesses are canoe paddles made by Foxx Worx Paddles and painted by students of Bainbridge-Guilford Schools and Greene High School. The paddles will be auctioned online at www.32auctions.com/rr2024paddles until Friday, May 31. The chairs will be auctioned starting online at www.32auctions.com/rr2024chairs then moving on to live. Proceeds from the art auctions will go to the JAC Regatta Row fund to support the artists and musicians and to create future events. Artists this year are Abby Barnett (Award of Excellence), Fran Briggs, Pat Cristelli (Award of Excellence), Robin DeGolier, Christine Giuliano (Award of Excellence and Best Creative Concept on two different chairs), Sarah Green, Rachel Hares, Kyle Hedlund (Mayor’s Award), Dorene Ireland, Donna Kazalski (Best Creative Concept), Carol Lernihan, Ellen Lockhart-Main, Cheryllynne Moore (Best in Show), Carlylia Muller, Bri Rig, Jessica Tefft and Cyndy Weeks.
