Barbara A. Doyle, 96, formerly of Delancey, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital.
Barbara was born Aug. 10, 1930 in Hamden, a daughter of Burton and Katherine A. (Gladstone) Aikens. She graduated from Delhi High School and worked part time at the Hamden Post Office prior to her marriage to Robert Doyle on Aug. 26, 1956. She later worked at the National Bank of Delaware County in Walton where she retired in 1992 as the assistant vice president after 35 years. Barb enjoyed her ‘sweets’ and desserts, garage sales and auctions, quilting and embroidery. She was also a basketball fan of March madness and followed the Yankees faithfully.
Barbara, and her husband Bob, were active members of the Hamden Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. Bob predeceased her on Nov. 14, 2017. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Wilber Aikens, Burton “Bud” Aikens, Marion Peterson and William “Bill” Aikens.
Barb is survived by several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Barb’s wishes, a graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at the Hamden Cemetery followed by a gathering at the Hamden Town Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Barbara to the Hamden Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 6754 Basin Clove Road, Hamden, NY 13782.
