WALTON — Music on the Delaware will open its 2026-27 Coffeehouse concert season with banjoist Benny Bleu on Sunday, Sept. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walton Theatre.
The free performance will take place in the theater’s second-floor performance space.
Bleu, a Finger Lakes-based old-time banjo player and songwriter, blends traditional Appalachian music with contemporary folk influences. A former geologist, his original songs draw on the natural world.
He has studied with old-time musicians including Mac Benford, Richie Stearns, Judy Hyman and Bruce Molsky. His 2025 appearance in the Clifftop Banjo Finals and recent recordings include Banjo Meditations, named among Bandcamp Daily’s best country music releases, and Banjo Jubilations, which reached the Folk Alliance International Top 5. His latest album, When I Am a Fossil, was released in June.
Desserts and drinks will be available, with donations to Music on the Delaware accepted.
The Coffeehouse series continues Oct. 18 with Mosaic Winds and Nov. 15 with singer-guitarist Jason Starr. The full 2026-27 schedule is available at musiconthedelaware.org
