Big Apple Crunch Challenge

Posted

It’s apple harvest season in New York state. To show appreciation for New York state farmers and provide local apples to schools, the FarmOn! Big Apple Crunch encourages apple enthusiasts across the state to sign up for the Big Apple Crunch Challenge and register for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship award for the winning school’s Victory Garden.

For the 12th annual Big Apple Crunch, FarmOn! will collaborate with the New York Apple Association to scale the challenge across the state with schools, farmers and all New Yorkers. Millions of small bites make the impact big, helping farmers and kids eat healthy.

Anyone can participate in the FarmOn! Big Apple Crunch Challenge. To participate as an individual, upload a photo or video of yourself biting into a New York state apple on social media with the hashtag #BigAppleCrunch on Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. For participating schools and nonprofit organizations, upload photos and videos of students biting into New York state apples with the hashtag #BigAppleCrunch Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship award to go towards a participating school’s Victory Garden. This initiative will help kids eat nutritious, locally grown food from their own Victory Garden year-round. Click www.applesfromny.com/big-apple-crunch to register.

The Big Apple Crunch program started in 2012 as a partnership between FarmOn! Foundation, GrowNYC and the NYC Office of Food Policy and has only grown from there. Millions of students and thousands of schools and college campuses statewide join in every year - pose, post and win.

The Big Apple Crunch Challenge kicks off Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. Winners will be announced Nov. 5. The winner of the $1,000 scholarship award Victory Garden will be publicly posted, and the winning school will be notified.
