Bramley Mountain Fire Tower to Participate in Annual Fire Tower Lighting Event

Posted

This year marks the 13th annual lighting event sponsored by the New York State Chapter of the Forest Fire Lookout Association (FFLA), and Friends of the Bramley Mountain Fire Tower are thrilled to be participating for its second year. Bramley stewards will be carrying lights to the top of Bramley Mountain and situating them in the cab and on the structure to light up the tower so it can be seen for miles on this one night a year.

The lighting is done to honor the men and women who worked in these historic towers; protecting homes, businesses, communities and surrounding forests. The FFLA invites people to go to locations around the community where they can look up, see the light on the horizon and remember that there was a fire tower there watching over them.

The Bramley Mountain Fire Tower will be visible from many places in Delhi, Bloomville and Bovina - along Route 10 such as by Kim McIntosh’s Farm Stand at 51792 state Highway 10, Passuelo Road and Townsend Road.

This Labor Day weekend event occurs Saturday, Sept. 5 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. with a rain date of Sunday, Sept. 6.  There will be a light shining in the cab of many towers across New York state.
