Girl Scouts from Walton Service Unit 356 gathered at the Walton Fairgrounds for a camporee filled with outdoor activities, campfire cooking and traditional scouting fun. The scouts made pita pizzas, roasted hot dogs and S’mores over the fire, created “edible fires,” traded SWAPS (Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere or Shared with a Pal), painted light jars, played games, and ended the evening by lighting wish lanterns and singing around the campfire. Organizers hope the cellphone-free event will become an annual tradition that creates lasting memories for scouts and leaders alike.
