It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Cathleen R. Soules-Ladd, 70, who departed this life on Jan. 25, 2025, at her home in Walton. Born on March 30, 1954 in Manhattan, to her parents Charles Soules and Rose (Marrulo) Soules, Cathleen lived a life rich in love and devotion, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
Cathleen was a passionate reader and writer. She often lost herself in the pages of a good book, finding joy and solace within stories both fictional and true. Her love for literature inspired many, and she shared that passion with her children and grandchildren, fostering a lifelong appreciation for reading. Cathleen was a secretary for many years at the Delhi Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Delhi and was a Girl Scout leader.
Family was at the core of Cathleen’s life. She was a devoted wife to her husband Richard Ladd, and a nurturing mother to her children. Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, as she relished every moment spent with her grandchildren, creating treasured memories that will forever resonate in their hearts.
Cathleen’s spirit extended beyond her own family; she embraced every child in her neighborhood as if they were her own, offering love, guidance, and support to all. Her kindness and compassionate nature left a lasting impact on the community, reminding everyone of the importance of family and friendship.
Cathleen is survived by her cherished husband Richard Ladd; her loving children Dawn (Darren) and Candis both of Walton, and Laura, Richard and Stephen; grandchildren Paige Moody and Richard Branigan; sisters Juanita Kasdaglias of Tobyhanna, Pa., Sally Laauser of Walton, Rose Lewis of Walton, and Anna Kollegmorgan of Dayton, Ohio. Cathleen is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins, along with several brother and sister in-laws.
Cathleen was predeceased by her parents Charles and Rose Soules, brothers Michael Soules and Charles Soules; sisters Toni Caputo (Benny Guzman) and Lorraine Samalin (Gil Samalin); her father in-law Richard Ladd, mother in-law Joy Ladd, brothers-in-law Andrew Kasdaglias, John Ladd, and Michael Ladd, and close cousin Patti Ann Bofeleos.
She will be missed deeply by all whose lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Cathleen’s name to an animal shelter of one’s choice.
