The Catskill Mountain Club will lead a series of free guided hikes over the next several weeks, offering outdoor enthusiasts opportunities to explore some of the Catskills’ best-known peaks and trails.
The nonprofit, volunteer-led organization has spent more than two decades promoting hiking, paddling and bicycling while advocating for non-motorized recreation throughout the Catskill Mountains.
Upcoming outings include a hike on the Neversink-Hardenburgh Trail on Sunday, June 28; a Fourth of July trek across Fir, Big Indian, Eagle and Balsam mountains; a West Kill Mountain Traverse on July 5; a hike along Dry Brook Ridge via German Hollow on July 8; and a challenging route over Windham High Peak, Thomas Cole Mountain, Black Dome and Blackhead Mountain on July 11.
The schedule concludes July 12 with a hike from Colgate Lake to North Point and Scutt Road.
All hikes are led by club volunteers and are free to the public, although participants should be prepared for varying levels of difficulty depending on the route.
