Celebrating Sukkot:

Community Comes Together in Fleischmanns

Posted

Congregation B’nai Israel in Fleischmanns recently celebrated Sukkot, the weeklong Jewish festival honoring the harvest and commemorating the Israelites’ 40 years of wandering in the desert after their liberation from slavery in Egypt. The congregation held a community celebration in a sukkah, a temporary shelter traditionally used for eating and gathering during the holiday. The synagogue thanks the volunteers who helped construct the sukkah. Standing, from left, are Jesse Fried, Michael Biederman, Gil Rubin, Joe Michaels, Doug Hershkowitz and Ellis Tobin.
