BINGHAMTON - The Community Foundation for South Central New York has awarded its first round of grants through the Catskills Campaign for the Future Fund, a new initiative channeling support from New York City donors to rural nonprofits in Delaware County.
Eight organizations will each receive up to $3,500 annually over three years in unrestricted funding: Catskill Neighbors, Interfaith Council of Margaretville, Inc., Delhi UMC Food Pantry, Skene Memorial Library, Walton Food Pantry, John Burroughs Woodchuck Lodge and Michael Kudish Natural History Preserve.
The fund launched in 2025 with a $1.2 million commitment from anonymous New York City donors connected to the Catskills and the West of Hudson watershed.
The program focuses on nonprofits serving communities within the Catskills watershed, which supplies drinking water to most New York City residents. Organizers said the unrestricted grants are intended to help local groups address needs including food insecurity, transportation and mental health services.
The Community Foundation for South Central New York, founded in 1997, manages more than $51 million in assets and has awarded more than $33 million in grants across Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego and Tioga counties.
