Community Foundation for South Central New York awards $3.3 million to non-profits and students

The Community Foundation for South Central New York has awarded a record-breaking $3.3 million in grants to students, non-profit organizations, municipalities and school districts in Broome, Tioga, Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego counties.

A wide-variety of organizations received support for projects ranging from capital improvements to educational programming. The funding milestone has been made possible by the generosity of donors from every walk of life that collectively contributed over $7.9 million in 2023, another record.

The Community Foundation for South Central New York, a nonprofit organization founded in 1997 and headquartered in Johnson City, encourages and facilitates personal and institutional philanthropy throughout the region by managing 161 funds, within the Foundation’s $43 million endowment, that are established by donors to achieve specific charitable goals. From these funds, the Foundation has awarded $30 million in grants to the area’s nonprofits to help address community concerns and improve the quality of life in the region. The Community Foundation serves donors and nonprofits in five New York counties:  Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego and Tioga.
