Posted

MARGARETVILLE - The Meadows Golf Center & All American BBQ will host a free Fall Community Outdoors Day from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, featuring fly fishing, disc golf, family activities, food and a display of exotic cars along the East Branch of the Delaware River.

The event will also mark the opening of The Meadows’ new nine-hole disc golf course, designed by professional disc golfer Dan Eignor. Eignor will offer free lessons throughout the afternoon.

From noon to 4 p.m., the Ashokan-Pepacton Watershed Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold a Family Fishing Day, with casting lessons, demonstrations and information about regional river conservation. The chapter also will hold a sale of fishing gear, books and fly-tying materials.

Around 4 p.m., chapter members will move to the section of the East Branch bordering the golf center for community fishing. Anglers 16 and older must have a valid New York state fishing license. Children under 16 do not need a license, and no license is required for casting lessons.

Local artist Raquel Brizzi of Raquel Creates will lead a hands-on activity for children and families.

The event also will feature a midday visit from OneLife USA, a multi-day supercar rally traveling from New York City to Lake Placid. The vehicles are expected to be on display for about 90 minutes between noon and 1 p.m.

Raffle tickets will be available, with proceeds benefiting the Ashokan-Pepacton Watershed Chapter. Prizes include items from West Kill Brewing and a signed copy of “The Fly Fishing Book” by West Kill author and illustrator Steven Weinberg. Additional prizes will be announced before the event.

The Meadows’ owner and pitmaster, Russ Matson, said the event is intended to bring the community together around the property’s river access and new disc golf course.
