ALBANY - The state Department of Environmental Conservation has opened submissions for its annual Arbor Day Poster Contest, inviting artists and photographers to send original work on the theme “Trees for the Future” through Nov. 30.
The winning image will appear on the 2026 Arbor Day poster, distributed statewide at schools, libraries, fairs, and conservation events.
“Trees are powerful allies in building resilient communities, ecosystems, and a healthier future,” Commissioner Amanda Lefton said in announcing the contest. Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball added that trees “contribute to the scenery that makes up New York’s landscapes” and support industries from maple syrup to wood products.
Entries must depict trees growing in New York and are limited to one per person. Submissions are accepted online through the DEC website. The contest is sponsored by the state Arbor Day Committee, which includes DEC, Agriculture and Markets, and forestry groups.
