Delaware Academy advances to sectional semifinals with 67-50 win over Union Springs

DELHI — Delaware Academy’s varsity boys’ basketball team continued its postseason run Feb. 28, securing a 67-50 victory over Union Springs in a Sectional Quarter-Final matchup.

The Bulldogs (17-4 overall, 12-0 league) set the tone early, outscoring the Wolves 17-10 in the first quarter and maintaining control throughout. Senior Seamus deMauro led the charge with a dominant double-double, recording 25 points and 17 rebounds, while Tommy Nagy added 18 points, including two three-pointers.

Ivan Richardson contributed 13 points and nine rebounds, and Rocco Schnabel anchored the defense with 12 boards. Lucas Nealis chipped in six points, four rebounds, and four assists, helping Delaware Academy keep Union Springs at bay.

Union Springs (19-3 overall) was paced by Nevin Brown, who knocked down four three-pointers en route to a 22-point performance, while Cooper Dechick added 11 points. Despite their efforts, the Wolves struggled to contain Delaware Academy’s inside presence, particularly on the boards.
