ROXBURY — The Delaware County Democratic Committee will bring together candidates, and community for a “Friendraiser Brunch” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27 in Roxbury. Designed to be a family friendly day, the event will feature lots of activities for kids, including field games, arts and crafts and a face painter. Best of all, children under 12 are free.
“We wanted to create something that feels less like a traditional political fundraiser and more like a community gathering,” said DCDC Chairperson Kathleen Hayek. “People can meet the candidates and hear why they’re running, but they can also bring their kids, have brunch, see some friends and hopefully make a few new ones. That’s really where the idea of calling it a Friendraiser came from.”
Candidates scheduled to attend and speak include Janet Tweed, candidate for New York State Assembly District 102; Michele Frazier, candidate for New York State Senate District 51; Tom O’Brien, candidate for Roxbury Supervisor; Glen Faulkner, candidate for Middletown Supervisor; and Jonathan Kilday, candidate for Hamden Supervisor.
Organizers are putting on a full brunch with options for meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans and those who eat gluten-free plus things for picky little ones. The Friendraiser will raise money to support local candidates and their campaigns, with proceeds staying in the community.
Advance reservations are required. Tickets are $25 per person, with children under 12 free. The Roxbury venue, directions and additional details will be provided with ticket confirmation.
