Marissa Zaczek has been named valedictorian and Mirabella Sanford will be salutatorian of the Class of 2026 for Deposit Central School in Deposit.
Marissa currently serves as the president of National Honor Society, president of Student Council, and president of Spanish Club. She has also served as the Class of 2026 President for thee years and was president of the National Junior Honor Society. She recently obtained a Seal of Biliteracy and the Civic Seal of Readiness. Marissa was a member of the field hockey team and the varsity indoor and outdoor track and field teams. She holds the school record for indoor long jump at 16 feet. Marissa is an avid piano player and has shared her talents while visiting the elderly in nursing homes and at the Mercy House in Endicott. She has also taken the lead on the Thanksgiving food drive and the Valentine’s Day sweetheart dances held for the elderly in our community. Marissa enjoys working with the younger members of the track team, sharing what she has learned about long jump and relays. Marissa plans to attend St. John Fisher University on a pre-med track. Her ultimate goal is to become a surgeon. She will continue to compete in the long jump as a collegiate athlete for Fisher.
Mirabella is a busy and active student. She runs on the cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams. She will graduate with the New York State Seal of Biliteracy and the Seal of Civic Readiness. Additionally she is an active member of National Honor Society and student council from helping at modified track meets to visiting the residents of the Mercy House, you can find her giving back to her community. She plans to attend SUNY Broome for liberal arts and sciences and transfer into SUNY Plattsburgh for the biochemistry program. In her free time, she enjoys making friendship bracelets, hiking, and spending time with her friends and family.
Deposit Central School District in Deposit will hold its commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, June 26 at the school.
