Downsville Girl Scout Service Unit 357 compiled Thanksgiving baskets for families in the school community. The service unit bought 13 turkeys and the parents and girls supplied the rest. With the help of Jody Elmore and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, as well as Kevin Keesler at the East Branch Food Pantry, Thanksgiving dinners were provided to 18 families. To help offset the costs of next year’s Thanksgiving baskets, the girls will sell their famous monster cookies at a vendor event at Downsville Central School Dec. 10 from 1-5 p.m.
