DOWNSVILLE — With spring break on the horizon, the Downsville Girl Scouts, Troops 30025 and 30000, got a head start on Earth Day, collecting four bags of litter along River Road during a clean-up this week.
The effort, led by the troop’s Juniors, is part of their “take action project” in pursuit of the Bronze Award—the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can earn. In addition to beautifying their community, the girls are building a 24/7 emergency food pantry, or “blessing box,” which will open May 3 outside Tax Fisk Service in Downsville.
Among the Scouts pictured during the cleanup were Aubree Meres, Giuliana Townsend, Lydia Fletcher, Kayleigh Shaw, Mia Odell, and Olivia O’Brien. The full troop includes Natalie Jaindl, Audrey Keesler, Frankie Mattson, Rory Davis, Hannah Edwards, Ciara Townsend, Mollie Bennett and more.
Their message was simple: small actions can spark big change—especially when done together.
