It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth M. “Betty” Smith, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life May 25, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born Jan. 25, 1941, in Walton, to her parents Wellington and Edith Green.
Betty took joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for bowling and would often be found at the local lanes, sharing laughter and camaraderie with friends. Square dancing was another of her joys, where she celebrated each twirl and dip with an infectious enthusiasm. Elizabeth cherished the time she spent playing pinochle with family, where hours would drift by filled with lively conversation and cherished memories.
Betty and Philip were married for 66 years before his passing May 14, 2025.
Betty is survived by her loving family, her children Cindy (Scott) Stevenson, Philip (Roxanne) Smith Jr., and Renne (Raymond) Grossman-Smith; her brother-in-law Larry Smith, and two sisters-in-law Linda Smith and Carol Finch. Also her grandchildren Jesse, Chris, Carly, Nichole, Avery, Morgan, Julie, and Kendra; her great-grandchildren Noah, Abby, Myia, Cy, Nova, Sylvia, Hailey, Teegan, Greyson, Bode, Beckett, Aden, Lane, Kellan, Gavin, and Meaghen. Betty is also survived several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband Philip R. Smith Sr., her parents Wellington and Edith Green, and son in-law Raymond Grossmann.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 5, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. with service at 12 at New Hope Community Church, 45 Stockton Avenue, Walton, with Rev. Larry Light officiating. Following the service there will be a graveside service at the Walton Cemetery.
