TREADWELL - Twenty artists, two galleries and an exchange of ideas will come together this month when Bright Hill Press presents “EXCHANGE,” an exhibition drawn from the flat files of Kentler International Drawing Space.
The exhibition opens Aug. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Word & Image Gallery at Bright Hill Press, 94 Church St., and will remain on view through Sept. 12.
The show brings together work by artists working in a range of media, reflecting the variety of contemporary drawing and artistic practice represented in Kentler’s collection.
The participating artists are David Ambrose, Mildred Beltre, Elise Kaufman, Cameron Bailey, Beth Casper, Mary Hambelton, Bill Huggins, Carter Hodgkin, Carol Justin, Joo Sun Kim, Michael Kulka, Mike Lyon, Sascha Mallon, Lucia Minervini, Richard Basil Mock, Diogo Penmentao, Lucy Mae Schofield, Chihiro Taki, Maddy Rosenberg and April Vollmer.
The exhibition is intended to encourage an exchange of ideas, techniques and approaches among artists while introducing their work to a broader audience.
The exchange will extend beyond the gallery. In return for the exhibition, Bright Hill will sponsor an evening of poetry readings at Kentler International Drawing Space on Oct. 3.
Bright Hill Press credited Sallie Mize and Florence Neal for their assistance and encouragement in organizing the exhibition.
“EXCHANGE” will be on view Aug. 22 through Sept. 12 at the Word & Image Gallery at Bright Hill Press, 94 Church St., Treadwell.
