Exhibition at Roxbury Arts Center Explores Memory, Silence and Expression

ROXBURY — A new group exhibition at the Roxbury Arts Center will bring together two dozen artists exploring themes of memory, truth and the human voice.

Titled “The Things I Never Said,” the exhibition opens Saturday, March 28, with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. at the center’s Walter Meade Gallery. The show will remain on view through May 23.

The exhibition features work by 24 local and regional artists and examines the ways art can give form to thoughts and emotions that are often left unspoken. Organizers describe the show as an exploration of the space between remembering and reliving — and the ways creative expression can illuminate experiences that are difficult to articulate.

Works in the exhibition span a wide range of media, including collage, cold wax, photography, painting, textiles, sculpture, ceramics, video and projected installations.

Participating artists include Fern Apfel, Emma Backer, Alexandra E. Bingham, Lori Anne Boocks, Wendy Brackman, Robert Brune, Luciano Capello, Ally DeRusso, Eddie Donoghue, Evelyn Gardiner, Tabitha Gilmore-Barnes, Annie Hayes, Keiko M. Howard, Cheryl Kass, Scott Keidong, Christina Kelly, Laura Sue King, Katherine LaMere-Fortman, Joanne Lentner, Cena Pohl Crane, Alan Wayne Powell, Lesley A. Powell, Ellie Stover and Fileve Tlaloc.

The Roxbury Arts Center is located at 5025 Vega Mountain Road in Roxbury. Additional information about the exhibition and upcoming programs is available at the Roxbury Arts Group at roxburyartsgroup.org or by contacting community@roxburyartsgroup.org
