Fall Fest in Sidney Center Oct. 1

Posted

The Sidney Center Improvement Group invites all to the first Down Home Fall Fest at Baker Street Park, Sunday, Oct. 1st, from 2-6 p.m. The event will be a celebration of the completion of several restoration projects which have been underway for over five years.

Just completed are the fully renovated playground and the new picnic pavilion, both of which will be dedicated that afternoon. The playground features several children’s riding and climbing structures, two benches, a bike rack and a picnic table - all made from recycled plastic. The pavilion was constructed by Sidney High School Industrial Arts students under the direction of teacher Jay Walts. Materials were supplied by Jess F. Howes Building Supplies of Sidney Center.

There will be yard games and field day contests including “open play” on the updated basketball court. Great food, desserts, and a pie-eating contest all will be featured. There will be live entertainment, basket raffles, a book sale, and a photo booth.

The park also features a walking / fitness trail and a beautiful 60-foot art mural created by area artists and school groups.

The park is located off CR 23 just south of the main corner in Sidney Center. Look for signs. Further information at www.facebook.com/scigny
