WALTON - On Sunday, April 19, Music on the Delaware will host a chamber music performance at the Walton Theatre, featuring flutist Emily Hutchinson and cellist Svetlana Garitselova. The concert, scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Andrea Retz Paternoster room, will showcase a program spanning multiple styles and eras.

Highlights include a Latin-inspired reinterpretation of J.S. Bach’s flute Partita, a Bach cello suite, an instrumental setting of Robert Frost’s poetry, and Heitor Villa-Lobos’ “Jet Whistle.” The evening promises a mix of classical rigor and inventive arrangements designed to appeal to a wide audience.

Hutchinson, a Catskills-based performer and instructor, holds a B.S. in Flute Performance from Roberts Wesleyan University and is on faculty at the Roberts Community Music School. She has appeared as a concerto soloist with four orchestras and performed in masterclasses with renowned flutists including Jim Walker and Paul Edmund-Davies. Her accolades include winning the National Flute Association Professional Flute Choir Competition in 2020 and prior recognition in the NFA Collegiate Flute Choir Competition.

Garitselova, principal cellist of the Las Vegas Sinfonietta Chamber Orchestra, has performed internationally with artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Adele, as well as with ensembles including the Nevada Ballet and Las Vegas City Opera. She studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Professor Victor Simon and earned a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music. In addition to performing, she teaches cello at Hochstein Music School in Rochester and maintains a private studio.

The Walton Theatre Coffeehouse series offers free admission, with desserts and drinks available, and donations to Music on the Delaware are welcomed.
