Students in 18 area school districts will be eligible to receive school meals at no charge during the 2026-27 school year under an updated meal-service policy, officials announced.
The districts participating in the program are Andes, Charlotte Valley, Cherry Valley-Springfield, Edmeston, Gilboa-Conesville, Hunter-Tannersville, Jefferson, Laurens, Margaretville, Milford, Morris, Oneonta, Roxbury, Schenevus, South Kortright, Stamford, Worcester and Windham-Ashland-Jewett.
The policy amendment applies to meals served through the federal National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. It allows all children at participating schools and sites to receive meals without charge, regardless of their individual eligibility.
The program will apply throughout the 2026-27 school year.
Families seeking additional information should contact their local school district’s school nutrition manager.
