Musicians, dancers, poets and street performers are being invited to help transform Stamford’s Main Street into an open-air arts venue this summer as Roxbury Arts Group prepares for its annual Porchfest: Music+Arts festival.
The rain-or-shine event, formerly known as the Headwaters Music and Arts Festival, is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, from 2 to 6 p.m.
Organizers are accepting performer applications through June 13 at Roxbury Arts Group Open Calls. Accepted performers will be notified by June 20 and will receive a stipend following their performance.
The festival stretches across porches, storefronts, parks and outdoor gathering spaces along Main Street, creating what organizers describe as a walkable mix of music, art and community activity.
Applications are open to musicians of all genres, bands, orchestras, dancers, poets, storytellers, circus artists, magicians, street theater groups and other performance-based artists.
This year’s festival will also feature performances by Loco7 Dance Puppet Theatre, along with a giant puppet procession created by youth participating in Roxbury Arts Group’s July puppet-making workshop.
Additional attractions include collaborative art projects, photography activities and food service from the Health on Wheels food truck.
Festival maps and schedules will be distributed throughout Stamford, allowing visitors to move between performances and activities throughout the afternoon.
