George A. Sayler, 93, of Trout Creek, passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. He was born in Bad Wörishofen, Bavaria, Germany on Sept. 30, 1932, the only child of the late Alolph and Frances (Schmid) Sayler.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, finishing his education at Newark Central Evening High School in 1959. He then studied mechanical engineering at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was married to Mary Ellen Snyder in 1958 in Butler, New Jersey.
George began his career at Kearfott in Wayne, New Jersey in April 1955, eventually retiring as an engineering support supervisor after many years.
In his earlier days he enjoyed skiing, hunting, swimming and golf. He was a member of Doc’s Snowmobile Club and American Legion Post 423, Milton, New Jersey.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Sayler of Trout Creek; three children, Charlene (Tom) Scott, George (Naty) Sayler, and Debbie (Karl) Blomback; daughter-in-law Marlis Sayler; five grandchildren, Bill Sayler, Karl Blomback Jr., Kayla Lee, Nicole Scott and Jason Scott; as well as two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son William in 2015.
Friends are invited to call from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
