ANDES — The Andes Garden Club will host a community harvest picnic from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, on the grounds of the historic Ballantine Manor, also known as the Bruce Mansion, at 255 Main Street.
The free, family-friendly event will feature a community potluck celebrating local and regional produce. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share, along with lawn chairs or picnic blankets.
The event also will provide an opportunity for the public to visit the 14-acre grounds of the 1854 Italianate manor and learn about proposed plans for an Andes Botanical Garden.
The Andes Garden Club, the MaNaBu Movement, which owns and stewards the Ballantine estate, and project partners will present conceptual plans for the proposed garden. The project envisions the property as a botanical and ecological education site, youth learning center and community gathering space.
Organizers will display conceptual design maps, discuss site feasibility studies and provide information about opportunities for community involvement.
For event updates, including information about a possible rain date, visit the Andes Garden Club website at andesgardenclub.org or its social media pages. Information also is available by emailing info@andesgardenclub.org
