As winter approaches, New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) urge customers to take advantage of the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), with applications open on Nov. 1, 2024.
HEAP benefits will be available through March 17, 2025, or until funds are exhausted, helping eligible households with energy bills and weatherization.
HEAP recipients are also automatically enrolled in the Companies’ Energy Assistance Program (EAP), which includes a monthly bill credit. In addition, customers who receive programs such as SSI, SNAP, Medicaid, and Veterans’ benefits may qualify for EAP with proof of participation.
