Helios Care’s Spring Camp Forget-Me-Not will be held Saturday, May 3 in Richmondville at the Radez Elementary School. Camp Forget-Me-Not is a free day-camp open to children age 6-12 and teens ages 13-18 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Camp is a safe place for kids to make new friends, share big feelings, and learn to cope with grief with the help of Helios Care Grief Professionals.
Grief changes for children as they age. They may feel the absence of their loved one differently throughout their lives as they get older and experience major milestones such as graduations, birthdays, or holidays. Camp Forget-Me-Not teaches children to understand their feelings of grief, now and in the future.
A support group will be held at the end of the day, where parents and caregivers are able to meet with the Helios Care staff and to share their own experiences, gain emotional support, ask questions, and learn the coping skills that were shared throughout the day.
Camp will begin Saturday, May 3 at 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided. There is no cost to families and you do not need to be affiliated with Helios Care to enroll your child. Registration is required and can be done on the Helios Care website at https://www.helioscare.org/all-events/camp-forget-me-not or call Helios Care Bereavement Department at 607-432-5525; roberts@helioscare.org
