Help Trout and Salmon Beat the Summer Heat

Posted

Finding ways to stay cool in the summer can be a struggle, especially for coldwater fish like trout and salmon that experience stress when water temperatures reach 70°F and above. If you plan to fish, go early in the morning when it is cooler and avoid areas where fish are pooled together in unusually high numbers as they are likely already under heat stress. Better yet, consider fishing for more heat-tolerant fish like bass and panfish to give trout and salmon a break.
